Hello old friend...

Hey everyone, or maybe anyone, who is reading this. I originally started this blog to keep up with everything that is going on and let you know what I had going on in recent months. Welllllllll, that never really happened. I logged in to see if this even still works and I wanted to talk about a few things.

I was going to try and keep this brief, but those who know me well know that is impossible. Random stuff in no order.

1. Thank you so much for all of the kind words and birthday wishes over the last few weeks. If you wrote on here, sent me a message, called, or sent a text, please know that it meant a lot to me. I truly appreciate it.

2. Many people have asked about my health. I wish I had more to report, but I don't. Doctors have ran so many tests over my various hospital stays in the last month that is hard to keep track. I should know more this week if medicine will be the answer or if surgery is in my future. Thanks for the well wishes regarding this as well.

3. I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who has continued to let me DJ an event, bar/club, party, or wedding over the last year. I am proud to announce that I was recognized by the Knot as a DJ in their "Best of 2013" listing, and also as a 2013 "Bride's Choice" winner through the Wedding Wire. Thank you for allowing me to be part of your events. I know I have long way to go as a DJ to where I'd like to be and what I'd like to do, but your support means so much to me. Thank you!

4. I will try and post new stuff I record once a month when I do the blog update. For now, here are some mixes that I have been listening to and digging. All are free. Throw them on your iPod, make a cd for the whip, or enjoy them online.

DJ Climax- "Traffic Jam"
*Dope mix of new and old. Creative and smooth sounds to reduce road rage.
https://soundcloud.com/djclimaxpgh/traffic-jam-vol-1

DJ Nugget- "Real Feel 2012"
*The latest in his annual mixtape series. Recorded live, always dope, and chalkful of face melters.

DJ Zimmie- "Footnotes Vol 1: 1979-1981
*Another gem in the DJ Zimmie mixtape catalog. Super creative, respect the architect format starting off the series with the year I was born.

Enjoy! Talk to you soon, I promise.

DJ AM Tribute @ 5ive

This past Monday night at 5ive in Station Square, I had the honor of playing at the 2nd Annual DJ A.M. Tribute. Proceeds benefit the DJ A.M. Memorial Fund. Like I said, it was an honor just to be a part of the event. 31 DJs came out, and did 10 minute sets from 9-2. To see the least, I was very impressed with what I saw and heard. Since many of us have gigs on the same night, we all very rarely get a chance to see each other play, talk, or even catch up. There is one thing about Pittsburgh DJs. 99% of Pittsburgh DJs look out for one and other. People compliment, pass gigs, and support one and other. It is hard to explain how cool the vibe was at 5ive on this night, and I hope to be a part of it for years to come. Thanks to DJs Kurve and Digital Dave for providing the equipment, and the place. As well, big thanks to Digital Dave for putting the whole thing together. RIP AM.

Been a long time...

Dammmnnnnnn!!!!!

It's been a long time since I've hooked up a blog. I promise to make more of an effort. I kinda feel like an idiot after I hyped it up to everyone, and their mom to check it.

So, that being said, I a have a lot to talk about. First, I wanted to congratulate my good friend Bobby. Bobby Kramer aka DJ Climax has been a long time assistant at weddings and events, and is now stepping out as the resident DJ in the South Hills at Level 20 Lounge in South Park. He beat out many DJs to earn the spot as their resident. Bobby has been working really hard to improve, and his hard work has paid off. Keep your ears open, because in addition to DJing, Bobby will be interning at Kiss FM this summer.

Also, I have been filling in at Bar Louie in Station Square over the last couple months. It's always fun to play out at new places, and hang out with new people. That leads me to some good news. They offered me the resident position for Bar Louie on Friday nights there starting in late May. Station Square has a lot going on right now, and if you have a chance definitely come though to Bar Louie for some good food, drinks, promotions, and specials. I will still be rotating with my cousin, Tony aka DJ Crush, at Finn McCools, but this will lead to some frequent schedule changes, so check in on Facebook, Twitter, etc. for updates.

Hope to see folks out soon, and as always, a big thanks to those who come out and support me, and continue to refer me as well.

Talk to you soon! -UD

DJ AM

In the last few months many people have been discussing the death of DJ A.M. If you have heard a mix he made or watched a video that he is in then you truly know how talented he really was. I didn't know DJ A.M.. I never met him, but I am truly grateful for a message he has been able to send beyond music. I am so glad that MTV decided to air the series, "Gone Too Far". My family has definitely had its battles with alcohol and drug addiction. My own relationship with my father has been greatly affected by these diseases. On one of the episodes, AM says, "Sobriety is for those who want it, not necessarily for those who need it." Many of the people need it, do not want it. I myself have struggled with my own bad habits in regards to what I eat and drink, and need to change my ways to be a healthier and better person. Many people have judged DJ AM since his death. Remember the person, a human life, and their entire body of work. He says in the opening of the show that he is doing the show for one reason, and that is to help others get sober. You will be missed, RIP DJ AM.

Sunday Fundays

Hey all. Just wanted to say what's up and try to get used to making a habit about posting pretty regularly here at BlogSpot.

Wanted to put a few thank yous out there for some Sundays that have been a lot of fun. First off, a shout out to DJ Zimmie and DJ Nugget (aka tinyGIANT) for all of their help, and inviting me to guest DJ at S Bar. Those guys are the resident DJs at S Bar, and they do this every Sunday. I have been in S Bar a ton, but never had the chance to play there. Zimmie did the first and last hours, and I had the two in the middle. I had a lot of fun, played a little bit of everything, and was amazed how quick the night went. For those who don't know about S Bar, make sure you get familiar. They got a whole other side of the building that will be opening soon for the weekends, and have Djs Wednesday through Sunday. Check them out, 1703 East Carson in the South Side.

Secondly, a thank you shout out to the SLS crew from High School, especially Mike Hungerman for hosting the fourth annual Pig Roast. I had a blast catching up with everyone, and playing some of my favorite music...OLD SCHOOL!!! When I got to the house, I almost couldn't believe how perfect it is for the party. The yard was huge, the house is awesome, and I even had my own DJ booth. Good people, good food, good music, and good times. Thanks for thinking of me for the gig, and I can't wait until next year.

Keep in touch everyone. Hit me up...Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, etc.
